My bro is a regional dm for game. He was informed by senior staff in august this year that sony had been wondering why they werent charging like their competitors in Europe. He told me they could enforce a premium service around dec (xmas) or jan 2010. There would also be a further price reduction on the 120Gig ps slim to " soften the blow ". It is NOT a stupid rumour and there is very good reason for me to believe him.
1> Sony have always had plans to eventually charge (since 2007 actually if you google it)
2> The financial climate and all the sudden improvements to the ps network indicate change is a coming. Those improved services all cost money and someone has to foot the bill.
3> He's my bro and he's a straight up guy.
As yet though, nothing is concrete and Sony sure as hell arent giving anything away as usual. C'mon ppl, put the pieces together- Sony don't do anything to their service for 2 years, then suddenly they add features to home, speech and add more servers....
