Last week the PlayStation 3 recorded its worst week of sales since its launch in Japan from data collected by Media Create.

The data, from Media Create, put PlayStation 3 sales at 25,531 units for the week ending 14 January. Overall the entire market for newly launched consoles was poor, with total sales of the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 hitting an estimated 128,274 units. That's the lowest week in sales since Nintendo's Wii launched in Japan on 2 December and made the market a three-console race.

I heard Gears of War put Microsoft in the black with 2.7 million sold, which is the first time a console from the new generation has made a profit. It took till Halo 2 for Xbox to have a black year. Also Zelda is the only game on Wii or PS3 to break into the top 10 best-selling games of December.

Let's see how well that holds up. Stores are selling them... but it seems very slowly, generally takes a store in my area (not including best buy or target) a week to sell out then wait for restock.
