1. There were TWO (2) things changed-the hard drive and they changed the backwords compatibility a bit, but I never heard anything about a chip.

2.You can change the HDD yourself but the HDD has to be a 2.5 inch SATA HDD.It is legal, but if you do it, it messes up the warranty.

3.There is a program called "Folding At Home" that comes on the XMB, but you need to have an internet connection to do it. All it does is if you go on the program and leave it on for a LONG time you will evantually have ONE (1) solution to cancer.

4.It has the EXACT same appearance except for the box, which has a picture of the game Motorstorm on it.

5.Like I said before, you will only be able to play very little PS2/PSX games.

P.S. The 80 GB also comes with a free copy of the game "Motorstorm"

The 80gb's emulator was changed to make its price cheaper.

To replace the hard drive is legal and u can upgrade ur ps3 up to 250gb hdd space.

Its a bit quieter than a computer.

ps3 has this program called folding@home to help to do cancer research. u dont have to do anything for that, if u feel like letting ur ps3 help in processing then just turn on folding@home u will need ur ps3 to be connected to the internet for this.

The apperance of both 60gb and 80gb is the same...not sure about the weight.

On my 60gb i can play all my ps1 and ps2 games perfectly note: my ps3 is updated to the latest firmware making it have a better backward compatibility.

yes they did take out a chip that allows u to play PS2/PS1 games they replaced it with software so u cant play as many PS2/PS1games but it will change in the future

yes u can replace the PS3s hard drive with a bigger one and it is 100% legal

the PS3 is a very quiet machine

yes their is something that helps find cures its called folding at home and all u need is a internet connection for that

the 80gb PS3 is weighs the same as the 60 and looks the same id say 3-5 pounds

alot of PS2/PS1 games will work but not all and the PS3 upscales the games so they look better

hope this helps
