PS3 YLOD data transfer?

My 60g PS3 YLOD on me a month ago. I did a mobo reflow a few times and now it finally doesn't want to come back to life. The Mobo Reflow doesn't work anymore.

I bought a new PS3 and I was wondering if I can place the HDD from the 60g into a friend's PS3 and data transfer to my new PS3. Is that possible?
