Is this a issue with the game or the onset of a mechanical issue with the PS3 machine?

I was trying to play this game today too.

The network is down. Having trouble with trophies or something wether or not you're playing online. This sucks because I played it today in the morning. Ate some lunch, came back and no ps3. Its only affecting the old (fat) ps3's. If you look at your date, it should say "12/31/1999. Maybe its a y2k bug?

Its funny how people are panicking....imagine whats going to happen when all the computers in the world go down?

Playstation Network has been down for awhile now, it's causing some games to not work at all and/or crash your system temporarily.
