I have a great solution for you. Instead of buying it off a website (I wouldn't trust them either, especially if they need your credit card number. You never know with people, they can take that and use it) you buy them off the Playstation Store? PSN cards come in $20, $50, and $100. You can get them at Wal-Mart. You pay $20 for $20, etc. No tax there, but there is tax on the store itself. If you get them from the store, you don't have to worry about area code things either. It goes directly onto your system hard drive straight from the store after downloading/installing.
It could take a while depending on your download speed, but you will still have it. To check your download speed, go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Test.
That should tell you your download speed your system has. It depends on your internet service provider (ISP) as to how much of that you have or not. We have 20mbps (which is a lot). Yours is probably a lot less. That just means it will take you longer to download it, that's all. You might want to see if you have a monthly internet limit too. We have 60gb. Downloading things gets you closer to your limit, so watch that alright.
Hope that helps.
