well if you cannot send it off to microsoft so that they may be able to do it for free then buy a optical drive from ebay or some other place than you may possibly replace it yourself with the help of google and youtube.

The most obvious answer is that the DVD player is broken and needs to be replaced.

I assume you turned it off and let it cool for 10 minutes and then tried it again.

Do movies work? Do you get an error?

If nothing solved the problem, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX if it is under warranty.

The "open tray" error is acctually fairly common, right after the famous red ring of death. Its something that goes wrong with the system itself. Firstly, do NOT open your system and try and repair it youself. It voids the warrenty with Microsoft if you do. If you bought the 360 in the last 3 years, contact Microsoft (all the info should be somewhere on the system itself) and tell them you are having the open tray error message. You will have to ship it off and have them repair the system if its still under warrenty. If its not, then you can check around your area for people who do repairs, but it will most likely be cheaper to get a new system if broken one is no longer under warrenty.
