Default Nintendo Wii vs. Microsoft Kinect?

So the wifey & I have been discussing a Wii for a bit now. Seems to be the " couples & friends " thing to do and of course, sounds like fun so we wanted to jump on the wagon too. However, I got curious about the Kinect since I already own a 360. And I know, they aren't released yet so how can one "really know" what to expect. I talked to the game guy in a shop yesterday and he described the Kinect experience something like the interface used in the movie Minority Report. I am intreaged >=) Checked out a few games on Microsoft.com for Kinect, and they look pretty cool. Same kinda stuff we would get for the Wii, only your avatars have legs, feet, arms, stuff your Wiis don't. now, the big kicker - Price. So I added everything up and to start the Wii how we would like to (making it as fun and interactive for wifey since she doesn't game) is about 0.00 CAD. The Kinect however is 0.00 CAD. What it comes with, I don't know. But, I don't need to buy: Another controller, a nunchuck, extra cables, fit boards, another system etc. Perfectly compatable with what I already own. No controlls to throw through the TV, nothing to replace. Plug and Play (or pray depending on Microsoft's dedication lol) Any thoughts on this subject

well for the kinect it may be quite costly but i would still recommend it as you've already got an xbox 360. Further more the kinect has a higher graphics compared to the wii as kinect runs on the xbox360. The kinect is also better as it does not require any controller and such unlike the wii. I wouldnt recommend you to buy another console, the Wii as you've already got a 360 on hand. Just live and enjoy the 360 to the fullest

Why decide? XBOX and Wii are fantastic in their own ways...

BTW: Playstation 3 stole off both the wii and xbox with their "Playstation Move",It just looks like Black Wii Remotes with Plastic Balls on them!

I would recommend you waiting for the kinect to go out and try it yourself, it looks pretty cool but you never know until you try it.

I own a wii and my brother has an xbox 360, and we were both discussing that too. The kinect looks like a very cool experience, and new because you don't need any controller. On the other hand, my brother agrees that sometimes using a wii controller by moving and hitting and stuff can be tiring in some games, and you actually have to rest your arms on your knees if you're playing for a few hours. The kinext however will require to move your whole body all the time, and it doesn't have the option to use a regular controller (like some wii games) so we guess at some point you're gonna be too tired to play confortably. Of couse this is just a guess since we never played it before.
