Default Use TV decoder to Logitech x540 Speakers For Xbox 360?

Hi.

I wonder if anyone could help me with my problem.

I have a Samsung T240HD monitor/tv with SRS Trusurrond XT.
I am also thinking buying Logitech x540 speakers.

Through research i have found out that Xbox will only output stereo if i was to use an Adaptor for the x540. Currently i have the Xbox connected via HDMI.

Could i use the audio coming from the xbox use the decoder inside the monitor and output via an optical out at the back of the TV to an adaptor which will convert the audio into the phono plugs needed to connect to the speakers.

Many thanks.
