It starts to read the disk and then goes to the open tray option....nothing will play and I dont hear the disks spinning inside the console....any ideas what could be wrong?

Mine did the same, i bought a laser cleaner, (they are the furry CD type equipment) and it worked fine thereafter, even the smallest amount of dust covering a laser reader can cause problems.
