Default US displeased at Israeli

Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton said that the United States did not take a decision to press forward towards a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah during the July 2006 war against Lebanon, before it was clear that Israeli military operations failed to achieve their objectives. Speaking to the BBC, Bolton revealed that Washington was deeply disturbed by Israel's failure to root out what he called "Hezbollah's military threat." He also said that Washington intentionally resisted calls for an immediate cease fire during the war before Hezbollah was crushed. Bolton agreed with the assertion that the US had given Israel free rein in its fight against Hezbollah. British Foreign Office Minister Kim Howells said Bolton's remarks came as a surprise.
