PS3 Error Message: Cannot Start, Correct hard drive cannot be found.?

My boyfriends PS3 displayed this message, while he was playing a game. What exactly does this mean and can it be fixed? Anyone out there who has had this issue your help will be greatly appreciated.

He has already tried the suggestions online and youtube, has anyone had this problem and successfully fixed a PS3.
