Hooking My PS3 Up to A HD Monitor.... What Do I Need?

I got a HD monitor with HDMI ports. Can i take the monitor right out of the box ( not hooking it up to computer ) and plug it in, then take the HDMI and hook it up to the monitor + PS3. Will it work? I am getting this monitor for HD gaming ONLY, So do i need to hook it up to my PC first? I dont have to have a video card or something do I? I am really confused!

it'll work, out of the box.

hook it the the ps3 with hdmi and set the t.v. to the correct input
