Can I hook up my surround sound to my ps3 without an HD tv?

I have a home theater system I just got, I was wondering can I hook it up to my playstation 3 with a regular TV instead of an HD tv because I don't have an HDtv.

It should not matter what kind of TV you have... the speakers should have come with a receiver of sorts (looks like a big DVD player) through which all of your devices run. Your PS3 should run 'in' to the Receiver... and then the video should run 'out' to your TV, with the sound running 'out' to your speakers. I'm sorry if i didn't explain that well, but just check the instructions that came with the theater system.
