Default Transferring files from PS3 hard drive?

Hi, my PS3 recently stopped working and it would have cost me too much to repair it because the warranty had expired so i decided to buy a new PS3 Slim. The problem is that my old fat PS3 isn't working and I need to transfer my saved games to my new console. The hard drive on the old one is fine but how can I get the files on my new console?

Thanks.

I cannot turn my old system on. It will shut down a couple of seconds after i turn it on. I probably need to get the files straight off the PS3's internal hard drive. I know how to take it out but don't know what to do after that. I've also heard that if i put the old hard drive in to the new system it will format before i can use it so i won't be able to get my files.

Are you able to turn your system on? If so just turn it on and copy your saved files to an external hard drive, flash drive, or an SD card and then transfer the files to your PS3 slim. However, if you can't even get the system to turn on I would suggest taking the hard drive out of your old system but I'm not sure how to tell you to get them off your hard drive after you remove it.
