What does the secret button in the PS3 sixaxis controller do?
After being thoroughly frustrated at a game in which the computer kept cheating, I threw my PS3 Sixaxis controller to the ground with such gusto that its exoskeleton casing fractured and cracked, rending it unusable. Not to let it simply go to waste, I decided to open it up and see if there was a tiny 6-armed superintelligent gnome inside like I'd always thought. But that's when I noticed, on the back side of the PCB, there is a hidden button. It's simply labeled SW1, and I can't find any mention of it on the internet. It's as if Sony is denying its existence altogether.
Of course the button is not accessible unless you disassemble the controller, and mine won't turn on now so I can't check it to see what it does. I was wondering if anyone else has discovered this button and may know what it does?
Here is a photo of the button. The button is located on the NNW edge of the PCB, and as you can see, is labeled SW1 (although the label is legible, it's not obvious that it's a button, but trust me, it is).
