Default USB internet shared over wifi? (laptop->PS3, etc..)?

If I were to have my internet coming in through USB such as ATT, sprint, verizon, cricket wireless. Can I share this connection from my laptop over wifi to my PS3 and other wifi capable devices?

HP DV6000
Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1 i think)

I know I may need to have my laptop running but that's not a problem.

If it is possible what are the pros and cons of sharing my connection this way.

service providers are limited out here. wireless providers only. any recommendations for good gaming experience?
