ok i read that my tv was hdtv and it can produce sd of 480p and hd of 1080i: Its a "Philips-27PT8302-3" HD-Ready TV
i connected it to my ps3 via component cables, and i saw the graphics were better than when i used composite cables, but its only at 480i and when i go to change the resolution on my ps3>display settings
i go to component and there is 4 options to choose from 480p, 720p,1080i, 1080p, i tried each of them, and each time of i got a weird wavy screen with bars, black and white, like it couldn't display the resolution, as if it was too high...but i read somewhere it does 480p and 1080i (so 480p and 1080i SHOULD work)...

My HDTV only has a component and composite port, no hdmi or dvi...
im pretty sure i dont need a hd cable box to just get hd graphics from my ps3...

what may be the problem here??...please help and thanks...
