Will the HDD you linked to work in your PS3? Yes.
Is it recommended? No. The HDD you linked to is a 7200 RPM HDD. The speed will create more heat, and as anyone knows, heat and the PS3 are bad news. The speed gain is about 1-2 seconds, hardly enough to risk destroying the PS3. Look for a 5400 RPM HDD, not a 7200 RPM HDD.
All PS3s use the exact same HDD (2.5 Sata 5400 RPM HDD), so any PS3 HDD will fit in to any other PS3, no matter what PS3 it is, fat or slim.
