How long is a ps3 & ps3 controller life span?

I have a ps3 slim 120g & a duelshock 3 controller.

I was wondering what the average life span of both of them are?

Also 2nd question. How agile is the controller? Can it take more of a beating then a 360 controller? thanks.

ive had my ps3 for 5 years and i use the controller from the one i bought with it and it hasnt broke yet and i have dropped it on very hard floors and still hasnt broke. also i drop it daliy sooooo yep
