Default why wont my ps3 controller charge?

both my dualshock SIXASIS controllers are completely out of charge, and i plug in my controller to the charging cable the controller then flashes and it says on the screen, "the battery for controller 1 is low, plug in a power source". it then about 2 seconds later says the "maximum amount of power that can be supplied into a USB device has been reached please remove at least one device."
Please help me, i cant play my PS3 until i have resolved this problem

Thanks!

i think the actual battery is dead. you have to throw it away and get a new one.

From what I've gathered, I'm thinking your contoller's battery may be dead, or the USB port on the controller itself is broken, not allowing it to be charged (since I've had a similar problem recently).
