Is it possible to use a PS3 controller on a PC?

I have bought a gaming PC for Skyrim and BF3 and whatever else and I intend to use the mouse and keyboard as much as possible, but just in case I want to know if it is possible to connect a PS3 controller to a windows PC and play games with it. Thanks in advance.
