ps2 controller to ps3 ????????

my ps3 controller no longer works and i have a ps2 controller and a usb cable and i was wondering if i could convert it to ps3 if i hook all the wires to the usb cable would it work has anyone done this already??

Yes it do works!!! Only if it has a usb cable. but it wont be wireless!!!
